How to Measure your Wrist to See Which Watch is Suitable

One of the most important aspects when buying luxury watches such as a Carrera watch or a Rolex watch is that they are suitable. If the watch is too large, the clock can fall and break. If it's too small, it becomes very uncomfortable to wear. We have developed a great guide to how to measure your wrist properly, so now you don't need to worry about choosing a watch with the wrong dimensions.

How to measure wrist without measuring tape

If you only have a rigid gauge or tape ruler, there are other ways to make accurate measurements. When measuring your wrist, you can use something flexible, such as a shoelace or strap.

Mark the points that overlap on a rigid ruler or measuring tape. Place a measuring instrument on a flat surface, such as a table or other similar furniture. Make sure the gauge is completely flat and tense properly. Measure the measuring instrument with the actual meter to get accurate measurements.

Measure your wrist

Use a measuring tape to measure the circumference of your wrist. Make sure the meter is properly seated on your wrist. Add 60mm to the measuring section to give a little extra space to ensure that the watch is comfortable.

To measure special matches:

Measure past your grip if you want to fit tight. Measure your wrist with a measuring tape just below the bottom of your palm if you want to be a little looser. Make the actual measurement band meet alone. This is the most comfortable size for your wrist.

Measuring for the right watch

Pull the measuring tape on the inside of the tape until it is firmly seated. Begin measuring at the beginning of the measuring tape, not where the numbers start to be marked. Write the length of the ruler where the cross crosses. No extra length is needed to add to the measurement. Choose the right band for the size of your wrist

Remember that when choosing a watch; you have to choose one that fits the size of your wrist. Often people with thinner wrists have a wrist size of 17 cm or less. People with rougher wrists apply a wrist size of 18.4 cm or more.

For people with thinner wrists, it is suitable for thin to medium bands. The thin strip is about 6-8mm and the middle width is 8-12mm on average. For those with thicker wrists, a band around 8-12mm must fit, or you can invest in a ribbon that is wider around 14-18mm.

For speed dialing, someone with a thinner wrist must choose the button by going around 38mm to 46mm. For rougher wrists, you should invest in the dial by going around 46mm to 50mm if possible.

This can help you find the right one depending on how thin or rough your wrist is. If you choose a small watch for a large wrist, the size of the wrist can overwhelm the watch.

The same applies to larger watches on narrower wrists. There the watch can flood the wrist. If you choose a small to medium sized watch for a smaller wrist or a medium to large watch on a larger wrist, this will balance your style.
