What If You Cannot Exercise?

By Donovan Baldwin

We all know that there are many health benefits of exercise. There's no doubt. We don't question it. It's fact.

However, exercise is... well... exercise.

It's hard. It takes effort, and, no matter how strongly we believe in it, actually doing it can be a challenge.

Here's a couple of tips if you think you cannot exercise.

1. Prioritize your exercise.
2. Make it pleasure, not punishment.

Prioritize Your Exercise

By prioritize, I don't mean set up a workout schedule of what comes when. While that CAN be an important part of any physically active lifestyle, at this point, I'm just trying to get you off the couch and out the door.

So, at this moment, I'm talking about making exercising a regular part of your daily routine. It should be as much a part of your life as brushing your teeth or getting dressed. With that in mind, I want you to get much the same feeling when you skip your workout as you would if you walked outside without your pants on.

This means that working out, exercising, should have a high priority (see?) in your daily activities. We often tend to try to fit exercise in little niches and nooks around out other activities. It's better to give physical activity a front row seat, and work a lot of the other "stuff" into your life, around your fitness routine.

Make It Pleasure, Not Punishment

No one has decreed that "exercise" has to be pushing weights around in a gym, or riding a bicycle until your lungs give out.

First lesson?

Start off low and build up slow. Unless you are already in great shape and regularly tasking your body, there is going to a "train up" period. Also, what you see in the mirror, or on the bathroom scale, does not even begin to tell you what's going on inside your body.

It's not all about muscles and fat. There are glands and hormones, and even the brain, involved in physical fitness. You cannot see what's happening inside, and, it's important to realize that if you try to do too much too fast, you can actually do more harm than good.

Second lesson?

You are more likely to do what you enjoy than what somebody says you HAVE to do. There are not only many different forms of exercise and fitness workouts and regimens, but, many activities that some people would not consider "exercise" at all.

For example, bicycle riding, swimming, gardening, hiking, and yoga to name just a few.

The fact is that few of us simply "cannot " exercise. Most of us just don't want to. We see it as work, as effort now without immediate reward.

Well, the rewards are there, not just in the health benefits of exercise, but in the many physical, psychological, and emotional ways in which regular physical activity, defined as exercise or not, can impact our lives in a positive manner.

Bottom line is that, if you can wiggle your fingers, tap your toes, swing your head from side to side, you can put some activity into your life. If you are fortunate enough to have full use of your limbs, then you cannot honestly say, that you "cannot" exercise... you've just found excuses not to exercise.

Knees and Your Health

By Jenetta Haim

Knees been playing up lately? Is it just a sign of getting older or can it point to other issues? When your knees hurt it makes moving about awkward. Getting up and down stairs, kneeling, gardening, dancing, and exercise. All these and much more becomes affected. There are many common causes of knee pain. You may have had an injury or just overuse so that means it's temporary. However there are other more serious causes like arthritis. Some causes are less obvious however.

One of the first things to question if you have not overused your knees in some way is to look at your weight. Are you overweight and are your knees feeling the pressure? Did you know that the knees can feel the pressure of up to five times of your body weight? So if you are overweight apart from attending to your diet and some exercise you need to do some muscle strengthening exercises specifically for that area of your body.

Or is it that you are exercising too hard or too often? This can cause major strain on all your joints and exercise done incorrectly can affect the cartilage and add to knee degeneration. So it is important to warm up and stretch before any exercise and do a cool down to avoid injury.

Of course we can't discount the fact that you are getting older. Age puts stress on all parts of your body. Your muscle mass decreases and so does your body strength so it is natural that there should be a few aches and pains if you are not taking care of yourself. The way to combat this is to have a balanced diet, a balance in your exercise routine, a balance of sleep, relaxation, work and take the right supplements for your age.

Surprisingly also people who are depressed tend to get more aches and pains than people who are happy with their lifestyle. This is because when you are depressed you tend to neglect your diet, exercise and social connections. You also tend to brood and worry more. All this makes for a more sedentary lifestyle and your muscles are not getting a proper workout. There is a psychological effect by the depression which causes a physiological effect in that you don't move about as much and it becomes a cycle of one symptom adding to another. So if you are anxious and depressed make sure you see a natural therapist who can give you a tool kit of how to handle your depression and some natural supplements to make you feel better.

There are illnesses however that will affect your knees as well as other parts of your body. Do you have gout? Gout can be controlled by right diet and supplements. It is due to perhaps eating a lot of red meat or drinking too much alcohol. Also Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are two diseases of the digestive system that can cause pains in joints. There are other diseases that do this also. So always look at your diet first when you are not feeling well in any area of your body. Again this can be remedied by seeing a naturopath or nutritionist who will give you a proper diet to control your symptoms.

Reviving The Lost Sex Drive When There's A Female Lack Of Desire

By James Nussbaumer

A recent research study recommends that close to two of three women aged 23 to 63 are struggling with a loss of interest in sex, likewise known in female health issues as Sexual Desire Disorder.

With female lack of desire and women's health news when a lady loses her sex drive, it's not just an emotional state of mind going on.

The loss of a woman's libido is the most common sexual setbacks among women no matter what age.

Different factors might be attributed to an absence of libido and drive in females consisting of:

- Interpersonal relationship issues consisting of partner performance issues.

- Absence of psychological fulfillment in the relationship.

- The birth of a child can be a temporary setback in women lack of libido.

- It might be while being a caretaker for a sickly loved one can reduce sexual desire.

Socio-cultural or career elements including task tension, peer pressure, and media images of sexuality can negatively influence libido.

Low testosterone also impacts sexual drive in both men and females.

Testosterone levels peak in ladies in their later twenties to early thirties and steadily decreases up until menopause, when the stated level drops significantly.

Female lack of desire and women's health news about mental illnesses or medical problems such as depression, or medical conditions, such as endometriosis, and thyroid disorders, tell us more about the effect a woman's sexual drive both mentally and physically.

Medications such as antidepressants (consisting of the new generation of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRI), blood pressure-lowering drugs, and contraceptive pills can lower sexual drive by reducing testosterone levels or affecting blood circulation.

With female lack of desire and women's health news on many matters, age is likewise an element given that androgens fall constantly in females as they age.

Because women's loss of libido is triggered by a mix of psychological and physical aspects, more than one treatment technique is generally required for how to increase libido and to heal the issue.

As quickly as the factors triggering low libido have actually been identified, potential treatment options might consist of:

- Sex treatment and/or relationship counseling.

- Sexual issues usually affect both parties in a relationship and need to be gone over together or individually with a psychological health professional.

- Sexual health issues caused by medications can be corrected by a change of prescription.

A various formula or non-hormonal birth control techniques might be recommended if an oral contraceptive is presumed as the perpetrator in reducing testosterone levels.

Addressing Underlying Female Health Previously I discussed women's life confidence and the role it plays on all-around women's health issues.

Medical problems adding to female lack of desire and women's health news about low libido might need surgical treatment, such as the elimination of agonizing fibroids or medication.

- Use of vaginal estrogens.

- In post-menopausal ladies, vaginal dryness may be treated with vaginal estrogen creams.

- Testosterone treatment.

No hormone or drug has been authorized by the FDA to treat female lack of desire and women's health news and young women's health tells us more about sexual health problems in ladies.

Many gynecologists recommend off-label uses of testosterone treatment for females with low sexual desire to bring back testosterone to regular (pre-menopausal) levels.

In addition, a number of therapies for how to increase libido, including testosterone tablets or skin patches particularly developed to deal with female sexual problems, are currently being studied in hopes of getting FDA approval in the near future.

Initial studies have shown that the patch significantly improved both sexual desire and fulfillment compared with placebo amongst post-menopausal women who had their ovaries eliminated.

Ongoing Medical Research

The third phase of medical trials of the testosterone spot involving several thousand females around the world is presently concluding and the results should be published quickly.

For the very first time, this research study looked at the impact of the testosterone spots in naturally menopausal females, along with those who have actually gone through surgical or early menopause caused by chemotherapy or removal of their ovaries.

It likewise helps explain why numerous supplements claim to be efficient in treating female lack of desire and women's health news even in other areas.

Due to the fact that expectations play such a large role in sexual desire, over the counter items may declare that they're effective, however it's likely just a placebo result.

In the last few years, nevertheless, the introduction of anti-impotence treatments has encouraged more research study to dig much deeper into the reasons for sexual health problems among both all ages of women and with the guys, too.

Current medical advances yield more helpful therapies and reliable treatments to put the lust back into the lives of more couples.

The female lack of desire and women's health news about loss of sexual desire is the most typical sexual health problem amongst ladies regardless of age.

(Please note, I suggest searching the web to learn more about other women's health issues that may lead to sexual health problems later, since expectations play such a large function in sexual desire.)

Type 2 Diabetes - Does Drinking Coffee Daily Lower Your Risk of Diabetes?

By Beverleigh H Piepers

According to scientists at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, drinking coffee can lower the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Their work was published in March of 2018 in the journal Nutrition Review.

The researchers put together the information found in thirty studies and analyzed the information as if it were one study. They found individuals who drank five cups of coffee each day had a lower-than-average risk of developing Type 2 diabetes when compared with the rest of the participants. The group who drank five cups of coffee daily were also less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than those who drank no coffee whatsoever. The results were similar for regular coffee and decaffeinated coffee. From this information, the investigators concluded drinking coffee lowers the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

How does coffee drinking lower the risk? Researchers list several possible mechanisms...

1. Thermogenic - causes the body to generate heat by burning stored fat. Lowering the amount of fat in the abdominal area makes for fewer hormones being released from the fat cells. These hormones regulate energy and fat storage but can put things out of balance

2. Antioxidative - oxidative reactions make for free radicals, which can damage the cell.

3. Anti-inflammatory effects - Type 2 diabetes is an inflammatory condition.

What is in a cup of coffee?

nicotinic acid - this can also be made by the body.

magnesium - helps keep the heartbeat steady, fights high blood pressure, and helps make bones grow strong.

potassium - needed for bones, muscles, and heart.

pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) - helps in breaking down protein,

carbohydrates, and fats.

riboflavin (vitamin B2) - see below.

folate - helps in making DNA.

niacin - helps make particular enzymes.

vitamin E - an antioxidant.

Most of the list above is present in small quantities in coffee, except for riboflavin which supplies 11 percent of the recommended daily allowance (RDA). Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is essential, meaning our body does not make it and so must be provided through the food we eat or through supplementation.

Signs and symptoms of riboflavin deficiency include...

a sore throat,

painful peeling of the lips and sores inside the mouth,

an inflamed tongue,

conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eye),

seborrhea, and

anemia.

Other foods that supply riboflavin...

mushrooms cup - 0.23 mg (14% DV)

spinach - cup - 0.21 mg (12% DV)

almonds - 1 oz - 0.323 mg (19% DV)

sun-dried tomatoes

leafy green vegetables such as lettuce, kale, swiss chard, collard greens, bok choy, turnip greens, and mustard greens

mushroom - cup - 0.23 mg (14% DV)

spinach cup - 0.21 mg (12% DV).

Several researchers have reported while coffee contains several vitamins and minerals benefitting your health, the consumption of coffee reduces levels of interleukin and isoprostane, which are both biomarkers of inflammation.

Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. By making easy changes to your daily routine, it is possible to protect your heart, kidneys, eyes, and limbs from the damage often caused by diabetes, and eliminate some of the complications you may already experience.

For nearly 25 years, Beverleigh Piepers has searched for and found a number of secrets to help you build a healthy body. Go to http://DrugFreeType2Diabetes.com to learn about some of those secrets.

The answer isn't in the endless volumes of    available information but in yourself.

A Healthy Dose of Medicine for the Soul

By James Snyder

A large segment of the human population takes things way too seriously for their own good. The strange anomaly is that most people laugh at the wrong thing and fail to laugh at the right thing. This serious incongruity has robbed people of a healthy attitude towards life in general.

Those who take life too seriously are in danger of missing the great joys of living in a crazy world like ours. I am not sure about the scientific research but I would guess that for every sad moment it takes one hundred laughs to balance the books. Some people are about ninety-nine laughs short of a real sane moment.

I like the old English proverb that says, "Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone."

From my perspective, if you cannot laugh with someone you will not be able to cry with him or her and have it mean anything.

According to some medical advice, it takes more facial muscles and energy to frown than it does to smile. Of course, the only exercise some people have is frowning and who am I to take that away from them.

I am determined, no matter what, to exercise my right to smile and laugh and enjoy the world around me. I must confess that I get this attitude quite honestly.

My paternal grandfather was a Past Master in the area of practical jokes. No amount of time was too much to spend preparing for one of his famous practical jokes. His favorite holiday was April 1 and began preparing for this holiday right after Christmas.

The fact that his practical jokes at times got him into trouble did not seem to affect him at all.

Once while in the hospital for an extended period he had somebody smuggle in to him a can of snuff. For some reason he liked chewing snuff. It is the most disgusting habit I know of on earth.

He no sooner received his smuggled goods then he began chewing it. If you know anything about chewing snuff, you know it is accompanied by a lot of spitting. As usual, his timing was impeccable. Just as the head nurse passed his door and looked in, he leaned over and spit in to the garbage can he had next to his bed. The nurse, not knowing about the chewing snuff, thought he was spitting blood and immediately went into emergency mode. Immediately my grandfather was rushed into the operating room and the surgeon and medical team were assembled.

My grandfather was very sick at the time. Some did not think he would get out of the hospital.

Just as they got him situated in the operating room he pulled from under his sheet his can of chewing snuff and smiled at them. The only person in the room that thought this was in any way amusing was my grandfather. The doctors were so angry with him that they refused to see him for three days and confiscated his can of chewing snuff.

My aunt and uncle lived right next to my grandfather. My aunt was hyper clean when it came to her house. Dirt in any form was not welcome under her roof. She had a broom that was always within reach because she never knew when a piece of dirt would try to invade her domicile.

That year my grandfather found something new. I am not sure where he found it but he probably spent a lot of time looking for something like this. It was a rubber facsimile of a very nasty looking piece of vomit. To him it was a prized possession.

Most of his practical jokes were executed on April 1. Whenever we saw grandfather coming on this particular day we usually ran for cover.

He went over to visit my aunt and was sitting on the couch in the living room. They chatted for a little while and then my grandfather began to cough a little bit. He said to my aunt, "I haven't been feeling good lately. I really don't know what it is." Then he started to cough a little more seriously, to which, my aunt got up and went to the kitchen to get him a glass of water thinking that might help him.

When she got back, she was shocked to see on her new coffee table a very horrible sight. My grandfather was bent over the coffee table hacking and coughing as though he was in the process of dying. On the coffee table was a very nasty looking piece of vomit.

My aunt went into hysterics. She whirled around and within a moment had grabbed her broom and started towards my grandfather. My grandfather was laughing but not for long.

Suddenly he realized that the flailing broom in my aunt's hand was aimed at him. She chased him out of the house, down the driveway and for at least three blocks yelling obscenities at him that I dare not repeat in public society.

Laughter is the fresh air of the soul. Even the Bible thinks so.

"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken" (Proverbs 15:13). And, my favorite, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones" (Proverbs 17:22).

I recommend a healthy dose of medicine for your soul.
