The 'Snow' Excuse

Trish and Lindy were friends and roommates, going to the same college. The classes for that day were so hectic and intense that they just couldn't wait to get home and hit the bed.
Trish got home first before Lindy did and fell asleep instantly. Lindy joined the sleep mode an hour later.

Morning arrived with rain accompanying it. Lindy got up, and began preparing to leave for classes and also to meet up the 30% test for the day.

Lindy woke Trish up to get dressed but she said she can't go for classes because of the rain and moreover the professor won't show for the test because it's raining.

Lindy, tried to make her get dressed but it just didn't work. She had to leave with the Umbrella.

On reaching school, the Professor was already in class ready to give the test. And many students missed it because of "its raining excuse". Including Trish.

This chapter of the Bible talks about the 37 mighty men with David at every point of challenges always stood their ground and fought.

But one man struck me in VERSE 20; his name is Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. See verse below:

"And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit IN TIME OF SNOW:"

Did you see that? He still went down and fought even in time of snow. Some of us would have used the snow as an excuse of not fighting. But, no! Not Benaiah, he still went out, nothing could deter him. Not even the two lion like men of Moab could make him turn round and run for his life. Wow!

This should be our spirit as born-again children of God, who do know their God. Who should learn to stand their grounds with faith in God and with boldness to face challenges of life.

Never give excuses on why not to fight, using the snow as your excuse. Benaiah did not use it. Your own 'snow excuse' could be "am not fit", "am not tall or slim", "I don't have the resources", "am not a great talker" just like Moses told God in
Exodus 4:10-12 and God told Moses don't worry I will be with your mouth and teach you what to say but still Moses wasn't still sure of his eloquence and God had to make Aaron, Moses spokesperson.

Maybe, your excuse for not speaking to someone about your faith and belief could be, "it's sunny", "it's raining ", "ah! Am so tried", "the Pastor is not here", "I have nothing to say". Believe me, you have all it takes, for God has given you the spirit of boldness and of a sound mind.

In all this, don't make excuses. Go for it! You can do it! Encourage yourself in the Lord and He will be your strength and helper.

Identifying important aspects that are the key to happiness and wellbeing of your life could be a life changing experience. Have you ever inquired yourself, who you are, what are your traits, what do you like, what you don't and why? We have filled our days with chores, distractions, and thoughts that might be keeping us busy yet unproductive at work and personal life. Negative and wandering thoughts tend to kill creativity and eventually we forget how impressive we are, impressive in our own way. In order to be high performing, it is imperative to chalk out clear defined goals, wherein these goals are working together in one direction enabling you to achieve true success and happiness that means most you and not to your neighbour.

Most of the time, we feel happiness in acquiring limited edition items or expensive objects. Have you ever thought what these temporary pleasures do to you? It waters your restless soul, instead of calming it down to outperform yourself every time, to feel momentary happiness or excitement. If we do not respond to our restless soul with wisdom, we would end up chasing momentary successes.

Whether you are a teenager or in 40's it is never too late for anything, it's never too late to suss out your passion, to get a sense of right direction and purpose of your life, and it's never too late to hop on the path that's meant for you. Even though if you have been in the ambiguous path, always remember that no experience is a bad experience. Each experience you have had in life, is going to make you stronger and wiser, enabling you to make better decision and face difficult situations.

So, instead of putting your energy in to several diverse directions, concentrate on the fewer directions to achieve better output. Several anecdotes are available suggesting great leaders believe in 80/20 rule. It is imperative to create pockets of excellence in your daily life to ensure a purposeful day, month, and year.

In this journey, you would need to dig deeper in to yourself and add rigour to find things, activities, attitudes that resonates with you. Once you start discovering those key aspects, all you would need to do is to practice them regularly. This practice has made a huge difference in my energy levels, I feel brighter, and I know well what makes me happy; I no longer live in ambiguity; I no longer require external validation. Once you have this clarity, why would you compromise with your happiness and growth. All you would need to do is to take ownership of your life.

For me, these key aspects are the key to undeniable happiness, meaningful and purposeful life.

It's no rocket science, you can embark on this journey just start by writing your story, and be mindful that you are the protagonist. It does not take too long to find out what makes you happy, it can be as simple as morning run everyday, eating healthy, or obtaining a degree.

Your glories are your story. Who knows whether your story is going to make you or you are going to write a great story. Happy writing!

1. They believe in him: Merely because, one wants to believe in someone's rhetoric and promises, why do so many continue, to believe, and trust the individual, even when he has taken actions, contrary to, his rhetoric, etc? In today's highly - charged, political climate, we have been witnessing, two different perceived realities. President Donald Trump has been reported to, according to political fact - checkers, lied, or made mis - statements, in excess of six times, per day, but has never admitted, he has done so! In fact, he has doubled - down, on many of his false statements, and called anything contrary, Fake News. His ability to convince his supporters of his version of the facts, has seemed to feed, their frenzy, and they continue to support him, seemingly, regardless of what he actually does, or focuses on!

2. Says what they want to hear: While we would probably be best - served, if our elected officials, faced the facts, and articulated relevant, sustainable solutions, the President's core supporters, are happy, because he tells them, what they want to hear!

3. Self - interest, versus, common good: The ideals of American freedoms and liberties, at least, ideally, have emphasized the common good, and the inherent right to specific rights, such as the freedom of speech, and the right to disagree! However, certain members of political poles, seem, more interested in their self - interest, rather than what might be best, for the public, as a whole!

4. Persona, of the leader: When personality and celebrity, become more important, to some, than quality, preparedness, and quality solutions, the nation suffers. Public service must focus on the needs, goals, priorities, and best - interests of American citizens, rather than a partisan political agenda, etc!

5. They don't care if he lies: If citizens don't hold their officials, accountable, for their actions and statements, it seems to indicate, they don't care if he lies, as long as it meets their personal agenda.

When core supporters continue supporting an individual, regardless of what he does and says, America, as a whole, generally, suffers! We need leaders, who focus on the best interests of Americans, and protecting all our freedoms and liberties, over any self - interest, and/ or personal political agenda!

Why do autistic people feel pain differently
The reason why people on the autistic spectrum feel pain differently is probably because of the way our brain is wired. Some autistic people are half numb to pain, some are hypersensitive to it, and some are actually both at the same time. I am.

A blood test gets me grimacing. When a speck of dust gets into my shoe, it stings, making me gasp. Sometimes it's so small, I can't even see it and have to run my hand through my shoe. Yet it hurts enough for me to limp to the nearest bench so I can sit and take my shoe off.

Aspie low tolerance for pain can be scary and embarrassing
Before a doctor's appointment, I'm distressed for days. When I'm told it wouldn't hurt, I don't know what to expect. A few times I've been told the procedure doesn't hurt at all, but it did. There were also times I've been told it hurts, but I felt nothing.

It's pretty embarrassing to wince and clench the examination chair's handles during a 'painless' checkup. The doctors think I'm a big baby. I can pick on that. They're not that subtle about it. I don't get anything for the pain, because it's 'not painful'.

I have sensitive teeth. My dentist told me he doesn't see any reason for my teeth to hurt. There's some wear and tear on the enamel, but not enough to cause pain. However, I feel sharp pain when eating cold, sweet, or sour food. It bothers me a lot. Already tried toothpaste for sensitive teeth, but it's not helping much. Perhaps I'll get fluoride gel at the dentist's office.

Aspies and stomach aches
It may be one of the reasons why so many people on the spectrum suffer from stomach aches. I call them 'autistic stomach ache.' I know from experience how frustrating they are. There's a theory about irritable bowel syndrome that people suffering from it get pain signal from simple digestive procedures that most of the population don't feel, aren't even aware of. Do autistic people feel pain resulting from something that is totally painless to the general population? Maybe. Although it may not be the only reason. General anxiety can add to it, for example.

Not being able to feel pain can be dangerous
On the other hand, the fact that autistic people sometimes don't feel pain when they should can be dangerous. What if something's seriously wrong, and we don't know? Pain is a warning sign, after all. It's there for a reason.

Advantages
Sometimes it's a blessing in disguise, though. My kickboxing instructor punched me in the face accidentally because I didn't block the punch fast enough. Blood ran down my mouth, but I barely felt pain. It can probably help in a fight.

Sometimes autistic people do feel pain, but it's milder. Sometimes we don't feel the pain at all. I've read horror stories about mammograms on the net, how painful it is. I talked to other patients who'd have it, and they said it hurts just a bit. A little pressure, they'd said. But I felt nothing. No pain, no pressure. Just the touch of cool metal on skin.
