The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of Ministry of Human Resource Development, has notified a regulation under National Employability Enhancement Mission (NEEM) to offer on the job practical training to enhance employability of a person either pursuing his or her graduation / diploma in any technical or non-technical stream.
AICTE has registered three organizations namely Board of Apprenticeship Training, Chennai, Tamilnadu (BOAT, Chennai), Nettur Technical Training Foundation, Bangalore, Karnataka (NTTF) and Teamlease Education Foundation, Bangalore, Karnataka as NEEM Agents to offer on the job practical training.
NEEM scheme is the main initiatives taken by the government of India and AICTE for skills development. Productivity will always be a result of great skills. The primary role of any industry is to generate jobs for youth who are either technical or non-technical graduate. The agents have to create employment opportunities & gets trained & groomed employee as per their required skill set.
The company provides on the job training to the trainees. The agents build a bridge between the company needs & the students skills. These agents play an important role to fulfill the gap between students skills and company requirements. They facilitate students' efforts to cope up with new industrial culture.
The NEEM agent creates awareness among trainees on safety measures, so the possibility of accidents is less. They can facilitate enhanced wage employment for the informal sector also. Industries can shape trainees as per their present and future requirements. The main objective of the scheme is to develop employable youth, there is no obligation on the host industry to offer permanent employment to trainees after completion of their training program.

They make the youths to convert their academic inputs into the output of the company. The NEEM agent also pay stipend, education fees and incidental expenses of the students while learning.
